Got in. Flight from Cracow to Munich was delayed, as usual, but Lufthansa was this time up to the task and they moved me and – as it turned out – my luggage swiftly so that I did catch my flight to JFK. Uneventful 9 hours passed relatively quickly. I got to my hotel European style – via subway from JFK. I felt a bit weird, though, as for the most part of my journey the train was almost empty – and I was the only white passenger as far as I could see. I finally walked a few blocks to discover that my hotel is really very close to Time Square.
There is an interesting atmosphere here. I have a feeling that if I mind my own business no one pays attention to me, which is nice. And there is lots of energy in the air, though everybody seems relaxed. I know it sounds contradictory but I don’t know how to describe it.
Anyway, it seems almost surreal that I’m really here.
