I hate that if I don't answer my cell phone people get mad because they know you probably have it with you. Then you get, "Why didn't you answer your cell phone?" I expect, as you note, that the emotional adjustment will be significant, although I also suspect that this will be ameliorated by... what else? in a capitalist economy the power to facilitate some kind of consumption whether tangible or not. In fact, I would not be surprised if, in recognition that people will at some point miss "getting away from it all," a singular strategy will be to indeed sell them just that. It will be interesting to see how folks adapt mindfulness practices to technological (and everything that comes with it) omnipresence. A mindfulness practice slogan, as counterfactual as it sounds, could be: "stop, turn off, tune out!" Maybe not. In any case, thanks again.
