Just a note - whether it was a hacker attack or not is not clear. Some screenshots of the site before it was taken down state that some hacking really took place (there was a message from hacker left in the site footer) and that the hacker removed read restrictions from the directory containing files. Nevertheless those files should not be in webroot directory anyway in the first place, but the case is not as obvious as some claim.
